On July 28, 2023, at 20:00, the highly anticipated 31st World University Summer Games (referred to as the "Chengdu Universiade") held its opening ceremony at the main stadium of the Dong'an Lake Sports Park in Chengdu.
The Chengdu Universiade, following the Beijing Universiade in 2001 and the Shenzhen Universiade in 2011, is the third time that mainland China has hosted the World University Summer Games.
